According to talkSPORT, West Ham United have made a £14million bid for Napoli defender Nikola Maksimovic.
It’s claimed that Fulham are also keen on the Serbian, but West Ham have tabled the first bid in an effort to win the race.
Maksimovic is now claimed to be West Ham’s op centre back target, having seemingly given up hope of signing James Tarkowski from Burnley.
The 28-year-old is out of contract at the end of the season, meaning West Ham may well succeed with that £14million bid.
Maksimovic joined Napoli in 2016 having starred at Torino, but he has only made 73 appearances for Napoli having failed to really nail down a starting role.
Maksimovic stands at 6ft 4in tall, possessing strength an aerial ability as well as international experience with Serbia having earned 25 caps.

A £14million fee doesn’t seem to unreasonable, and certainly doesn’t take a huge chunk out of the West Ham budget if they want to strengthen other areas.
With other centre backs linked, this situation could change quickly, but it seems that Maksimovic is emerging as an attainable target for David Moyes and co.
