According to The Mirror, Leicester City rejected a £5m bid from West Ham United for right back Danny Simpson on deadline day.
The Foxes landed one huge deal on the final day of the transfer window as they secured the signature of Sporting striker Islam Slimani, and again managed to keep hold of a key player.

The Mirror report that West Ham made a ‘serious attempt’ to sign Simpson on deadline day, but Leicester rejected their £5m bid for the player – and are now in line to offer Simpson a new contract.

29-year-old defender Simpson was a vital part of the Leicester City that won the Premier League title last season, but with just one year left on his current contract with the club, he became a major target for West Ham in their pursuit of a right back.
Michail Antonio’s days as a makeshift right back appear to be over, whilst Sam Byram is inexperienced in the Premier League, meaning manager Slaven Bilic was pursuing a deadline day deal for a Premier League veteran to add some experience at right back.

Eventually, West Ham did sign former Liverpool right back Alvaro Arbeloa – but it’s now emerged that a move for the Spaniard materialised after the club’s final day bid for Simpson.
Simpson is now set to win a new contract to stay at Leicester long-term, with the former Manchester United youngster rewarded for his performances last season.
