Livaja currently plays for Rubin Kazan, and is just 21-years-old.
He signed last summer from Italian side Atalanta for £4.5 million, and had previously played 13 first team games for Inter Milan.
Livaja is a Croatian under-21 international, and has a contract at Rubin Kazan currently until 2019.
Business Online report Livaja is being lined up for a loan deal by West Ham, and fellow Croat Slaven Bilic is a big admirer.
Livaja played only 13 times for Rubin Kazan after his move, with SoccerNews reporting he has failed to settle in Russia.
He could potentially be a shrewd signing by West Ham, but a loan move is sensible given his struggles at his current side. If he performs well, it is unlikely Rubin Kazan would look to stand in the way of a permanent deal.
Livaja also has Europa League experience, scoring four goals in six games in the competition over the course of his career to date.
