West Ham United were linked with Santiago Ascacibar last month.

According to Stuttgarter Nachrichten, Stuttgart midfielder Santiago Ascacibar is set for a move away from the club after a switch to West Ham United failed to materialise.
Ascacibar, 22, impressed in his native Argentina with Estudiantes before heading to Germany with Stuttgart in 2017, making his big move to Europe.
The diminutive midfielder has been a regular in the top flight of German football, but suffered relegation with Stuttgart at the end of last season.
Seemingly unimpressed by the idea of playing in the second tier, Ascacibar is now looking to move, and it’s claimed that new boss Tim Walter thinks he can live without him at the club.
The report states that Ascacibar is now set to leave Stuttgart before tomorrow’s transfer deadline, with Real Betis pushing hard to rush through a late deal.
That may be a blow for West Ham United, as TNT in Argentina recently claimed that the Hammers wanted to lure Ascacibar away from Stuttgart.

No move materialised, and any hope of him becoming a January target for Manuel Pellegrini may well disappear if Betis can get a late deal done.
West Ham are maybe one midfielder short after selling Pedro Obiang to Sassuolo, but they may now have to look elsewhere with Ascacibar on the move.
