West Ham United are reportedly keen on Roberto Jimenez.
According to AS, West Ham United are interested in a deal to bring Spanish goalkeeper Roberto Jimenez to East London, potentially reuniting him with Mario Husillos.
The Hammers brought in their first signing of the summer last week by snapping up right back Ryan Fredericks from Fulham on a free transfer, and work is continuing on a host of new signings.
As reported by the Daily Mail, West Ham are pressing ahead with attempts to sign Swansea City goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, Toulouse defender Issa Diop and Lazio winger Felipe Anderson, with Manuel Pellegrini looking to strengthen his squad.
Despite a move for Fabianski seeming close, West Ham are now being linked with another goalkeeper, as AS report that West Ham are interested in snapping up Spanish shot-stopper Roberto Jimenez this summer.
Jimenez, 32, has been something of a nomad throughout his career, as he has turned out for the likes of Atletico Madrid, Benfica, Real Zaragoza, Olympiacos, Espanyol and most recently Malaga, having spent last season on loan there from Espanyol.
The former Spain Under-21 international is likely to be available this summer, and a fee of €2million (£1.75million) would allegedly be needed to prise him from Espanyol this summer in a bargain basement move.
Jimenez worked with West Ham’s new director of football Mario Husillos at Malaga, and the Argentinian may well be driving West Ham’s interest in the goalkeeper, who would surely be second choice at the London Stadium.
With Joe Hart returning to Manchester City and Adrian linked with a return to Spain, Roberto could come in as cover for Fabianski, giving Pellegrini two experienced goalkeepers to worth with next season.
