Italian outlet CMW say that West Ham are also in the mix to sign Inter Milan midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu ahead of the January window – amid reports the likes of Tottenham and Liverpool also want the German-born Turkey international.
Calhanoglu, 28, joined Inter from AC Milan in the summer of 2021. A brave move, which ended up the wrong one. He joined Inter after the Nerazzurri pipped Milan to the 2020-21 title. Joining Inter, Milan then won last season’s Serie A.
This time around, Milan have certainly started brighter – sitting in third, five points ahead of seventh-placed Inter. The midfielder signed a contract until 2024, and is now about to enter the final 12 months of that deal. A move is likely.
A previous report from CMW states that Inter will sell Calhanoglu for £26million in January. The same outlet said in the summer that Tottenham also want Calhanoglu, while another said Liverpool wanted to land the playmaker.

Now, the report says that West Ham are also among his admirers – as are Newcastle, Chelsea and Manchester United. It looks as if the race is going to hot up ahead of the January window, with Calhanoglu’s Turkey not at the World Cup.
West Ham also in mix to sign Inter midfielder Calhanoglu
He is a player that is renowned for incredible creativity. But question marks should surround whether he has the speed and intensity to cope with the Premier League. He is well-suited to Italian football, given his laid-back style.
However, it is likely that most Premier League clubs will be after his signature. Indeed, in a side like Tottenham, Chelsea, Liverpool or Manchester United, he may struggle to start. For West Ham or Newcastle, he would surely start.
The issue is, that Calhanoglu will fancy himself as a Premier League player. He remains a regular for Inter, so surely, he would prefer to remain at the Giuseppe Meazza? Time will tell, if clubs act on their interest in the next few months.
