Report: West Ham keeping an eye on Newcastle player after he changes agents

West Ham United and Crystal Palace are keeping an eye on Isaac Hayden’s situation at Newcastle after he changed agents to try and sort out his future, according to a report.

The Chronicle have reported that Hayden, who is out-of-contract at St James’ Park next summer, has employed agent Will Salthouse to assist him in the next step of his career.

Given the experience Hayden has picked up in the Premier League and the defensive qualities to his game, Steve Bruce would need to keep such a player at his disposal, but equally, he would be a clever signing for the likes of West Ham and Palace.

Hayden came through the ranks at Arsenal, and after struggling to break into their first-team, he made a switch to the North East when the Magpies were in the Championship.

He helped them earn promotion to the Premier League and was a regular under Rafa Benitez, and he has continued to impress under Bruce.

The arrival of Jeff Hendrick on a free-transfer does help Bruce with depth and competition in his squad, but with all this takeover talk, he cannot afford to lose his senior players.

Equally, if you are Palace or David Moyes, then you would use this opportunity to push for Hayden’s signature and try to put some money on the table.

Given his current contract situation, he wouldn’t cost much and he would be a very useful squad player for either side, so this could rumble on unless the player puts pen-to-paper on a new contract.

But given that Hayden has seemingly changed agents, it does make things interesting because it does perhaps indicate that he wants to leave, especially given that there was also similar talk about his future at the club last summer.
