West Ham United have become the latest Premier League club to register an interest in Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
Sunderland’s Jordan Pickford
A report in The Sun has suggested that West Ham have become the latest Premier League club hoping to make a move for Sunderland goalkeeper Jordan Pickford this summer.
Along with Jermain Defoe, Pickford’s form has provided with Sunderland supporters with something to smile about during an incredibly disappointing season that looks destined to finish with relegation to the Championship.
Unsurprisingly therefore, The Sun are reporting that a host of teams are taking a serious look at the 23-year-old, including Tottenham, Everton and Arsenal, and they have now been joined by the Hammers.
Though Darren Randolph and Adrian have enjoyed promising spells during their time with West Ham, neither has really shown the form to cement themselves as the number one at the London Stadium, so it is not really a surprise that Pickford is on the Irons’ radar.
West Ham United manager Slaven Bilic
The Sun reports that should the Black Cats get relegated – which looks likely with 10 points separating them from safety with eight games to go – Pickford could be available to move for £15 million.
And while it may appear to be a gamble to pay so much on a goalkeeper when there are areas of the squad that arguably need more attention, Pickford appears to have an extremely bright future ahead of him, so £15 million could go on to look like an incredible bargain in a few years time.
