Brighton playmaker Gross has impressed since moving to England in the summer of 2017.
Italian outlet CalcioMercato claim West Ham United have joined the race for Brighton & Hove Albion playmaker Pascal Gross ahead of the January transfer window – but face competition from league leaders Liverpool.
The Daily Mirror claimed earlier this week that Liverpool were preparing a surprise £15million move to lure the 27-year-old German to Anfield, after impressing last season and continuing to shine this time around.
Gross was signed from FC Ingolstadt for a fee believed to be in the region of just £3million, and scored seven goals as well as creating eight more in 39 appearances for Brighton last season.
An attacking midfielder, Gross does not boast an enormous amount of pace but his footballing intelligence and creativity outweighs his lack of physical attributes.
Now, CalcioMercato report that the Hammers are interested in luring Gross to the London Stadium, with Manuel Lanzini still sidelined after suffering an anterior cruciate ligament injury back in the summer with Argentina.
Gross is earning well within West Ham’s pay structure, picking up just £30,000 a week at the Amex, according to Spotrac. It remains to be seen if West Ham will table the reported £15million required.
