West Ham United are interested in signing Emerson Palmieri from Chelsea in the January transfer window, according to The Mirror.
It has been reported that West Ham are looking for a left-back this month to provide competition for Aaron Cresswell, with Arthur Masuaku out injured.
The Hammers have made an enquiry about signing Emerson on loan from Chelsea, but the Blues have turned down their approach, according to the report.
Disappointment for West Ham United
Emerson has not had a great time at Chelsea since joining the Blues in 2018.
Described by former Chelsea head coach Maurizio Sarri as a “very good player” on the club’s official website in January 2019, the Italy international is behind Ben Chilwell and Marcos Alonso in the pecking order at Stamford Bridge at the moment.
It will come as a disappointment for West Ham that they have been turned down by Chelsea for their third-choice left-back while they have just one recognised fit player for that position.
According to WhoScored, Emerson, 26, has played just 89 minutes in the Premier League, and has made two starts and two substitute appearances in the Champions League for Chelsea so far this season.
