The Brentford winger is reportedly wanted by West Ham United, Derby County and others.
West Ham United’s interest in Jota ‘is causing problems for his other suitors’, The Sun on Sunday reports (August 6, page 64).
It is claimed the Brentford winger is ‘yet to entertain interest from Derby County while the Hammers lurk’, with Burnley, Huddersfield and Brighton & Hove Albion said to be ‘even further back in his queue of admirers’.
Jota of Brentford
Jota returned to Brentford after a year-long exile in January and scored or made 17 goals in 21 appearances.
And that, combined with the Spaniard having entered the final year of his contract at Griffin Park, looks to have alerted several clubs to his services, with £8 million the alleged asking price (Sky Sports).
But it would appear as though Jota has his heart set on a move to the other side of London with West Ham United, whose own Spanish-speaking winger, Manuel Lanzini, is claimed to have interest from Liverpool (The Sun).
Derby, meanwhile, are yet to find Tom Ince’s successor after the 25-year-old switched to Huddersfield earlier this summer, and are said to have had a bid turned down for Leicester City’s Tom Lawrence (Sky Sports).
But while Derby’s Jota hopes are looking slim, The Sun on Sunday also reports (August 6, page 64) that they, along with Middlesbrough, are heading the queue of clubs looking to sign Liverpool winger Ryan Kent on loan.
Ryan Kent of Liverpool
West Ham have already strengthened their options out wide this summer, bringing in Stoke City’s Marko Arnautovic for a club-record fee.
Is Jota right to wait for West Ham approach if Derby County and others are interested?
