West Ham United have made an approach for Sporting Lisbon forward Jovane Cabral after London neighbours Fulham expressed their interest, according to A Bola.
The best young talents do not tend to stick around in Portugal for very long and, after an impressive breakthrough season at the Estadio Jose Alvalade, Jovane looks set to follow in the footsteps of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gelson Martins, Nani and more.
A Bola reported in July that Fulham had made a £9 million bid for the Cape Verde international.
But if the Cottagers really want to add Jovane to an already impressive forward line, they have no choice but to beat Brentford in Tuesday’s play-off final.
Because, with Sporting demanding closer to £18 million, Fulham’s chances of luring the speedy 22-year-old to West London rest solely on securing promotion to the Premier League.
Especially with West Ham, guaranteed another season of top-flight football despite an underwhelming 2019/20 campaign, expressing their interest.

Reports from Portugal claim that The Hammers have made their interest in young Jovane known, though it remains to be seen if they are willing to pay a hefty £18 million fee to sign a forward who has just eight league goals under his belt thus far.
Jovane is most comfortable on the right-hand side, which raises doubts about the future of the high-earning Andriy Yarmolenko at the London Stadium.
