According to The Guardian, West Ham United officials have met with Juventus today in order to discuss a deal for striker Simone Zaza.
The Hammers have made two additions to their first team with Havard Nordtveit and Sofiane Feghouli both arriving on free transfers from Borussia Monchengladbach and Valencia.
Now though, manager Slaven Bilic needs to find at least one new striker, and it appears that a top target has emerged this afternoon.
The Guardian report that West Ham are targeting a move for Juventus forward Simone Zaza, and Hammers officials have met for talks with the Champions League giants today.
Zaza, 24, joined Juventus from Sassuolo last summer, but spent most of last season behind the likes of Mario Mandzukic, Alvaro Morata and Paulo Dybala in the Juve pecking order.
With eight goals in all competitions – including five as a substitute – Zaza made the most of his limited playing time but may now be looking for regular first-team football after Euro 2016 is over.
Zaza is currently playing for Italy at the European Championships, and set up Eder’s winning goal in the 1-0 victory over Sweden on Friday afternoon, again showing just what he can do when given the opportunity.
West Ham now appear keen to offer Zaza first-team football at the Olympic Stadium, and have met with Juventus officials today in order to try and structure a deal.
It’s claimed that Juve want a fee of €30m (£23m) for Zaza, whereas West Ham are willing to bid €20m (£15m) to land the striker, meaning there is some work to be done on a transfer – especially with Bundesliga side Wolfsburg believed to be keen on him as well.
