According to The Guardian, West Ham United want to sign Bournemouth attacker Josh King – but aren’t prepared to pay the £17.5million asking price.

It’s claimed that West Ham have already held talks with King about a move back to the Premier League, and he is desperate to return to the top flight.

West Ham haven’t made a form bid yet, but want Bournemouth to accept a lower fee than the £17.5million they’re currently demanding, given that King has less than a year left on his deal.

West Bromwich Albion are also keen, meaning West Ham need to make their minds up pretty quickly in order to avoid missing out on King.

The international transfer window ended without West Ham making a new signing, but they can still buy from EFL clubs before Friday October 16th.

King, 28, is one of the most attractive options given that he already has more than 150 Premier League appearances under his belt, scoring 48 goals in the top flight.

The Norwegian international can play up front, out wide or off a striker, meaning he looks to be a fine fit for the current 3-4-3 system West Ham are utilising.

Given the lack of resale value King holds, West Ham’s stance is understandable. They won’t want to pay almost £20million for a player who could be free at the end of the season, but they do risk missing out if they don’t come up with a good offer.
