According to reports from the Express, West Ham United are keen on a deal to sign Lincoln City defender, Sean Raggett.

The 23-year-old central defender has got a release clause inserted into his contract that allows him to leave the club for just £350,000.

Lincoln City earned promotion to League Two, but are resigned to losing the centre-back, who has been a star player for them.

The report states that the Hammers have been keeping close tabs on Raggett who was released by Gillingham for free as a youngster.

West Ham are not alone in the race to sign the defender. The Hammers could face a strong competition from Premier League rivals West Brom. Tony Pulis has been receiving updates from his scouts about Raggett and is reportedly interested in signing him.

Championship club Norwich have also registered an interest, but it is highly likely that the player would like to test himself in the Premier League, given an option.

His price tag is unlikely to put off either Premier League clubs, but the Express claims that West Ham are in the pole position to materialize a deal.

Raggett is unlikely to break into West Ham’s first team, and the club consider him as one for the future.
