West Ham United are hoping that they are leading the way for Eberechi Eze, according to the London Evening Standard.
West Ham have been tracking the Queens Park Rangers playmaker for much of the summer so far, but they realise that they are in a battle to sign him.
A number of clubs are also keen on Eze, but West Ham think that they have a trump card.
QPR want Jordan Hugill, and West Ham are hopeful that Mark Warburton’s side’s interest in their back-up striker could be used to their advantage.
If West Ham could land Eze he would be an extremely exciting addition to David Moyes’s squad for next season.
The 22-year-old was one of the standout players in the Championship last term, where he scored 14 goals and claimed eight assists.
His performances led to QPR boss Warburton calling him a ‘very special’ player in West London Sport.
If Eze was to join West Ham he could help provide a greater supply of chances to their forward players, which should be music to the ears of the likes of Jarrod Bowen, Michail Antonio and Sebastian Haller.
