It has been reported that West Ham are on the hunt for Benrahma, who has guided Brentford to the Championship playoffs this season.
The report has claimed that the London club see similarities between the 24-year-old left-winger and Payet.
As reported by The Times, the 33-year-old France international – who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a winger – scored 11 goals and provided 18 assists in 48 Premier League matches before returning to Marseille in 2017.
“Benrahma has become known for his trickery and ability in front of goal, with West Ham seeing similarities in his performances to those of Payet,” states the report in The Times.
Stats
Benrahma has scored 17 goals and provided eight assists in 43 Championship matches for Brentford this season, according to WhoScored.
Good signing for West Ham United?
Benrahma is one of the best attack-minded players in the Championship, and if Brentford do not get promoted to the Premier League, then it is very likely that he will leave the Bees.
West Ham do have some good attacking players, but there is no doubt that the 24-year-old Algeria international would make David Moyes’s side better.
