According to the Daily Mail, West Ham United are in discussions with Jack Wilshere over leaving the club – and are hopeful of an agreement.

It’s claimed that West Ham want to find a buyer for Wilshere, but that will be difficult after just 18 appearances in over two years at the club.

If West Ham can’t sell Wilshere before the deadline, they hope to find an agreement with the midfielder to terminate his contract by mutual consent.

Wilshere has less than 12 months left on his deal with West Ham, but the club unsurprisingly want his £100,000-a-week wages off the books.

The 28-year-old seemed like a risky signing in 2018, even on a free transfer after leaving Arsenal, because of his torrid injury record.

Rather unsurprisingly, his injury fortunes haven’t changed since joining the Hammers, and he managed just eight Premier League appearances last term.

West Ham don’t have the biggest budget, so if they can offload Wilshere months ahead of schedule, then they would no doubt love to do it.

A buyer seems almost impossible to imagine, so a mutual parting of the ways may be inevitable – not exactly how Wilshere would have dreamed that signing for his boyhood club would end.
