According to the Daily Star, West Ham United are pushing to sign Celtic striker Odsonne Edouard before the transfer deadline.

The Hammers sold Sebastien Haller to Ajax earlier this month, and have been hunting for a replacement ever since.

David Moyes is described as being ‘desperate’ to sign a new striker, and has had Edouard watched on a number of occasions.

Moyes allegedly believes Edouard can thrive in English football, and now wants to raid Celtic – his own former club – to sign the striker.

Edouard is believed to fancy a move to London, but would prefer a move to one of the so-called ‘big six’; the problem is that whilst Arsenal and Spurs want him, they couldn’t move until the summer.

With Celtic open to cashing in now before Edouard enters the final year of his deal, West Ham suddenly have hope of pulling off a coup.

Edouard would allegedly cost around £35million, more than three times the fee Celtic paid to sign him from Paris Saint-Germain in 2018.

The 23-year-old has had some issues this season, but has still scored 11 goals in 23 games for Celtic, meaning he could be the goalscorer West Ham are seeking – even if the big fee could be a problem for Moyes and co.
