According to Foot Mercato, West Ham have decided not to activate their option to sign Alex Kral on a permanent basis at the end of the season.
What’s the story?
Well, according to the Daily Mail, West Ham can sign the 23-year-old for £12m when his season-long loan at the London Stadium ends this summer.
However, Foot Mercato believe that won’t be happening.
The French news outlet are claiming that Kral could join Montpellier after he leaves east London, as a return to Russia – in the current climate – is not an option.
So far this season, David Moyes has only handed one Premier League appearance to the Czech Republic international, and even that lasted for just one minute.
Clearly, Kral hasn’t done enough to impress the Scot, and it seems his time at West Ham will end when the loan deal expires in June.
West Ham must replace Alex Kral

We agree with the decision not to sign Kral on a permanent basis, although Moyes has to find another central midfield option this summer.
The Irons usually line up with Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek in the middle of the park, which is a formidable pairing, to say the least.
However, behind the duo, there aren’t many backup options – the depth in that department is seriously thin.

Mark Noble is retiring at the end of the campaign, and with Kral leaving too, West Ham will have even fewer options in that area.
Therefore, it is imperative that Moyes signs a new centre-midfielder this summer, as well as another centre-forward.
