Report: West Ham have held no formal Declan Rice talks for months

West Ham United have reportedly not any formal talks over extending Declan Rice’s contract for a while.

According to a report from The Sun, West Ham have not held any formal talks with Declan Rice over extending his contract for months despite their desire to get his future resolved.

Rice’s situation will be concerning for a lot of Hammers fans. The Sun reports that he earns £3,000-a-week at the London Stadium and his current deal is set to expire in the summer of 2020.

The report adds that Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Chelsea are all monitoring the 19-year-old’s future, but West Ham’s previous offers would not have brought Rice anywhere near to being in line with the rest of the defenders in Manuel Pellegrini’s squad.

And The Sun is now suggesting that no formal talks between the two parties have not taken place for months. West Ham remain keen to keep Rice.

It would be a huge blow for the Irons to lose Rice in the future. He is already establishing himself as one of the key men within Pellegrini’s squad, especially in the midfield role that he has been deployed in for much of this season.

West Ham may have to consider offering the kind of wages that a player of his age rarely pockets to get the situation resolved, but Rice’s form since emerging into the first-team suggests that he would definitely be worth the investment.
