West Ham United have been eyeing up Atalanta striker Rasmus Hojlund despite rumours of a £60million valuation.

The Hammers have famously struggled with their striking recruitment over the years.

Gianluca Scamacca and Danny Ings have arrived inside the last year but have yet to really show that they can be long-term solutions.

90Min now claim that West Ham have been scouting Atalanta hitman Hojlund for a possible move to London.

It’s suggested that Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United, Everton, Leicester City, Crystal Palace have joined West Ham in chasing Hojlund.

Add in interest from Bayern Munich and Marseille and it looks like Hojlund is a very wanted man.

It’s hard to see West Ham winning this race though.

The Daily Mail reported earlier this week that Chelsea are very keen to sign Hojlund and invited Atalanta’s Antonio Percassi to Stamford Bridge last month.

That report added that Hojlund will cost around £60million this summer, which will surely be beyond West Ham – especially with other clubs interested.

Rasmus Hojlund is becoming a superstar

Hojlund has taken a strange path to prominence.

The striker emerged at Copenhagen in his native Denmark but only scored five times in 32 games.

That meant Copenhagen were happy to sell Hojlund to Sturm Graz in January 2022 as he attempted to shine in Austria.

12 goals in just 21 games there meant Hojlund was on the move again last summer, joining Atalanta after just a few months at Sturm Graz.

Hojlund is now a Serie A star with Atalanta after eight goals in 26 games this season and he even made headlines over the recent international break.

Hojlund scored five times in just two Denmark games, catapulting him into the spotlight – and leaving Atalanta to hike up his asking price.

West Ham will surely be impressed but their chances of actually winning the race for Hojlund’s signature seem slim at best.
