A report has provided an insight into how much West Ham United boss Manuel Pellegrini will have to spend this summer.
According to a report from Football London, Manuel Pellegrini will get £30 million to spend this summer, while the board also plan to make any funds from player sales available to the West Ham boss.
The Hammers go into this window looking to build on a 10th place finish in the Premier League. They broke into the top-half of the table on the final day of the season, but did only finish five points behind seventh-place Wolves.
It therefore, looks to be a vitally important summer for the Irons with Football London reporting that the board are targeting securing European football next year.
And the report notes that Pellegrini is set to be handed an initial budget of £30 million, with further funds only coming from the transfer fees of players that he offloads.
There are a number of players that West Ham fans will probably be expecting to see the back of during the coming months. But it would be a surprise if any left for the kind of fee that provides Pellegrini’s transfer kitty with a significant boost.
His reported budget gives him some room to manoeuvre. But he is arguably going to need to box clever to turn that budget into the kind of funds that allow the Hammers to catch the teams above them, especially as it would be no surprise if all of those teams had a similar amount to spend, if not more.
