West Ham United want Davide Frattesi in the Premier League but, according to FC Inter News, the Sassuolo star would prefer to join Serie A champions Inter Milan instead.
If Sassuolo supporters were hoping for a rather quiet summer, well they’re about to be disappointed. In the last few weeks alone, Gianluca Scamacca, Domenico Berardi, Jeremy Toljan and Hamed Traore have all been linked with big-money moves away from the Mapei Stadium.
CEO Giovanni Carnevali confirmed that Newcastle United made an approach for left-back Rogerio, while the Magpies also submitted a £21 million bid for penalty-box poacher Giacomo Raspadori.
Now, it’s Frattesi’s turn to have his future called into question.
According to FC Inter News, Juventus, AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund and David Moyes’ Europa League semi-finalists have all expressed their interest in the Italy U21 international.
A dynamic attacking midfielder with a penchant for making late runs into the penalty area, Frattesi has three assists and four goals during a breakthrough Serie A season.
Can West Ham win the race for Frattesi?
Inter Milan are the clear frontrunners as things stand, however. They have already held talks with the former Roma youngster’s representatives. Frattesi apparently views the Nerazzuri as the ‘ideal project’ for his development.
“I often speak with (Inter CEO Beppe Marotta) because we share a good friendship,” Carnevali admitted a few weeks ago.
“They were among the first to inquire about Frattesi and Scamacca, who are two exciting young players.

“We’ll see. Perhaps (£54 million for both players) may not be enough. We’ve spoken to Inter and with other Italian and foreign clubs.”

At his most effective when breaking into the final third and carrying the ball through the lines, Frattesi could slot in neatly ahead of Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek in Moyes’ three-man West Ham midfield.
His arrival at the London Stadium – though admittedly unlikely with Inter in pole position – could also pave the way for Manuel Lanzini to depart. The long-serving Argentine is out of contract in 2023. And he’s made no secret of his desire to return to River Plate.
