West Ham United have reportedly failed with a new bid for Fulham’s Tom Cairney.

According to Sky Sports, West Ham United have failed with a new bid of £18million for Fulham playmaker Tom Cairney ahead of Wednesday’s transfer deadline.
The Hammers have added one new signing during this month’s transfer window, as they landed playmaker Joao Mario from Inter Milan on loan until the end of the season on Friday.
However, after losing 2-0 at Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon, West Ham and manager David Moyes may look for more additions ahead of the transfer deadline this week.
Despite landing Mario, another playmaker appears to be on the radar, with Sky Sports now claiming that a bid of £18million has been launched – and rejected – for Fulham ace Tom Cairney.
Sky Sports claimed on Sunday that West Ham had offered £15million for Cairney, only to be told by Fulham that their talisman wouldn’t be sold for anything less than £40million.
West Ham have now returned with an improved offer, but £18million remains nowhere near Fulham’s asking price, meaning it’s no surprise that the bid has been rejected.
Cairney, 27, starred for Fulham last season with 13 goals and 10 assists for Slavisa Jokanovic’s men, but hasn’t quite matched that return this term with just one goal and three assists.
The Scotland international has seemingly still done enough to attract Moyes’ interest, but with the two London rivals far apart in their valuations, a deal before Wednesday’s deadline appears unlikely.
