West Ham United have reportedly had a £10m bid rejected for Brentford’s Scott Hogan.
According to Sky Sports, West Ham United have failed with a £10million bid for Brentford attacker Scott Hogan, with the Championship club demanding £15million.
The Hammers are keen to bring in a new striker during this month’s transfer window, with loanees Jonathan Calleri and Simone Zaza seemingly heading back to parent clubs Deportivo Maldonado and Juventus respectively having failed to score for West Ham.
Brentford’s Scott Hogan celebrates scoring
Manager Slaven Bilic is now looking for reinforcements, and whilst BBC Sport report that West Ham’s £6million bid for Sunderland striker Jermain Defoe has been rejected, they are also eyeing up other targets.
Sky Sports now report that West Ham have now offered £10million for Brentford attacker Scott Hogan – but the Bees are demanding a whopping £15million for their star striker.
Brentford’s Scott Hogan celebrates
Hogan, 24, returned from an 18 month injury layoff to score seven goals in seven games at the end of last season, and has built on that with 14 goals in 25 games so far this season.
A pacey attacker who lives on the shoulder of the last man, Hogan has enjoyed a meteoric rise having previously been in non-league football with the likes of Woodley Sports, Mossley, Stocksbridge Park Steels, Ashton United and Hyde, whilst he was even a team-mate Jamie Vardy at Halifax Town.
Hogan’s performances this season suggest that he could make the step up to the Premier League, and West Ham’s first bid isn’t a million miles away from Brentford’s asking price.
However, Brentford are under no pressure to sell, and they appear to be in a position to demand the full £15m asking price, leaving West Ham to consider increasing their bid for the striker.
