West Ham United face a battle with two major clubs for Salomon Rondon.
According to Sky Sports, Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan are also keen on West Bromwich Albion striker Salomon Rondon amid interest from West Ham United.
Rondon, 28, joined West Brom in an ambitious swoop from Zenit St Petersburg back in 2015, but it’s fair to say that he didn’t quite live up to expectations at The Hawthorns.
The Venezuelan hitman has scored just 28 goals in 119 games for the Baggies, including 10 goals in all competitions last term as West Brom suffered relegation to the Championship.
Rondon is unlikely to fancy playing in the second tier, and Sky Sports report that he does have a £16.5million release contract in his contract, with a host of clubs interested.
West Ham United look to be one of the favourites given that they have just appointed Manuel Pellegrini as their new manager, who was in charge of Rondon at Malaga with strong results.
However, it’s now believed that Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan – who are both in next season’s Champions League – are now joining the race to sign the powerful forward this summer.
That may be a big blow to West Ham’s hopes of signing Rondon, but they will be hoping that his relationship with Pellegrini can trump interest from two of Europe’s heavyweights this summer.
