West Ham now face competition from Olympique Marseille for Inter Milan attacker Alexis Sanchez, who both clubs are keen on signing.
According to TuttoMercatoWeb, Inter are working on paying off Sanchez’s contract. The Serie A champions are determined to offload the Chilean attacker. The former Arsenal star has hardly featured for Simone Inzaghi’s side this season.
And as per the report, West Ham and Marseille are the two sides keeping a close eye on the situation. Sanchez has been linked to the Irons before. Moreover, the 32-year-old rumoured to be a target for David Moyes over the previous transfer window.
However, with Sanchez set leave Inter for free, West Ham have the perfect chance to sign the winger. But, the Hammers now have competition in the form of Marseille, who are eager to improve their forward line.
With Sanchez earning a reported £117,000-a-week at Inter, the ex-Manchester United flop would be a pricey free agent this coming January. However, we have seen just how deadly the attacker can be when fully fit and in form.
The South American forward was one of the best attackers in the Premier League during his time with Arsenal. And whilst it would be impressive if Sanchez was able to return to this level of productivity and quality, it’s hardly an impossible feat.
West Ham will have to work fast to sign Sanchez
Indeed, the main aim for West Ham now will be to secure Sanchez’s signature and to beat Marseille to the winger.
After all, whilst the Hammers have some impressive options out wide, Sanchez could be an excellent option as a striker, with Michail Antonio West Ham’s sole player in the position who plays regular football.
