According to The Mirror, West Ham United are interested in signing Birmingham City attacker Che Adams this summer, along with Sunderland’s Jermain Defoe.

The Hammers brought in a host of attackers last summer, including Gokhan Tore, Sofiane Feghouli, Ashley Fletcher, Simone Zaza and Jonathan Calleri, but few have had real success this season.

That means that manager Slaven Bilic – should he keep his job at the London Stadium – will again be looking for attacking reinforcements this summer, and two English forwards are allegedly on his radar.

The Mirror claim that not only is Bilic interested in bringing Sunderland hitman Jermain Defoe back to the club, but Birmingham City’s Che Adams is also believed to be on the Hammers’ radar.

Adams, 20, was playing in non-league with Ilkeston before Sheffield United swooped to sign him in November 2014, and his record of 15 goals in 55 games for the Blades saw him earn a move to Birmingham last summer.

The former Coventry youngster, who can play up front or out wide, hit seven goals and three assists for a struggling Blues side this season, and he appears to have caught West Ham’s attention.

With blistering pace but also power and skill, Adams look set for a bright future, and whilst he only started 28 of Birmingham’s 46 league games, he should be attracting major interest.

At West Ham, Adams could offer a real threat on the counter attack, and could be well-suited to playing around a focal point like Andy Carroll, or even as an ‘inside forward’ on the left hand side should Bilic manage to land the youngster this summer.
