West Ham United are reportedly hoping to sign Diego Laxalt this summer following his impressive showing at the World Cup.

Laxalt enjoyed a promising season in Italy, scoring three goals and providing three assists for Genoa. And the 25-year-old followed that up by playing a prominent role at the World Cup, helping Uruguay reach the quarter-finals before their defeat to eventual winners France.
The left-sided star was arguably one of Oscar Tabarez’s side’s most impressive performers in Russia. As well as helping the South Americans keep a superb defensive record – they went through the group-stages without conceding a single goal and only let in three before they were eliminated – Laxalt also proved to be dangerous going forward.
The wing-back was more than happy to drive out of defence with the ball and offer some support to the likes of Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani.

Seven signings have already been brought in and the club record was smashed on the deal to sign Felipe Anderson from Genoa’s Serie A rivals Lazio.
Laxalt has the potential to be a fantastic acquisition if West Ham can get him through the door before the window shuts. At around £17.7 million, he could prove to be one of their most inspired additions in what has already been an incredibly encouraging window.
