West Ham United are reportedly taking on a Premier League rival in the battle to sign Mainz striker Yoshinori Muto.

The Hammers have arguably been the team to watch in the Premier League during this window. Seven signings have already been made and the club record was broken on the deal to sign Felipe Anderson from Lazio.
Nevertheless, the Irons are still awaiting their first striker signing this summer, and up front is most definitely an area where Pellegrini should be looking to strengthen after a season where Marko Arnautovic was the only player to reach double figures for goals in the top flight.

Muto boasts a decent record from his time in Germany, having scored 20 goals in 66 league games for Mainz. That record may not jump off the paper too much, but it is a solid return from the forward.
And given the quality that West Ham boast in the region just behind the striker, there seems little reason why he would not get the opportunity to impress at the London Stadium if the Hammers were the ones to win the race to bag his signature during the coming weeks.
