West Ham United are keen to snap up Juventus defender Luca Pellegrini on deadline day – but they face a battle with Sampdoria.
That’s according to Italian newspaper Tuttosport, who claim that Juventus officials are working on getting Pellegrini out for another loan deal.
Pellegrini sees his long-term future at Juventus and doesn’t want a permanent move after loans at Cagliari and Genoa in the last two seasons.
The 22-year-old was born in Rome and came up through the ranks with Roma, but left for Juventus in 2019 as part of the deal that saw Leonardo Spinazzola join Roma.
Pellegrini has been a regular for Italy at youth level since the Under-16’s, and actually has one senior cap to his name already.
Quick, attack-minded and able to put real quality into the box, Pellegrini isn’t really in first-team contention at Juventus so could join either West Ham or Sampdoria on deadline day.
This is yet another left back link for West Ham, which wasn’t something many expected heading into the final stages of the transfer window.
De Telegraaf in the Netherlands reported on Monday that West Ham had agreed a £10million deal to sign Ajax left back Nicolas Tagliafico, though he had rejected their first offer.
West Ham already have Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku who can play at left back, but it seems that David Moyes fancies another option in that area.
Pellegrini can offer that, and he is a name for fans to keep a close eye on ahead of the transfer deadline tonight.
