West Ham United are reportedly hoping to pull off a late deal to sign Fiorentina midfielder Carlos Sanchez.

According to a report from the Daily Mirror’s live transfer blog (06/08; 20:00), West Ham are plotting a move for Carlos Sanchez as Manuel Pellegrini looks to put the icing on the cake for the Hammers’ summer spending.

The Irons have been incredibly busy during the window and seem to have overhauled the large majority of their squad as they look to make sure that they face nothing like the troubles that they contended with last year.

The Mirror reports that a £4 million deal for Lucas Perez is all set to take place, and Pellegrini will celebrate by swiftly switching his attention to Fiorentina ace Sanchez.

The 32-year-old is no stranger to the Premier League, having spent two seasons with Aston Villa and making over 50 appearances for the club in all competitions before joining the Serie A side in 2016.

Sanchez was a part of the Colombia side that was knocked out of the World Cup by England this summer. The holding midfielder endured a tough tournament, as he was sent off in his country’s opening game with Japan and then gave away a penalty in the defeat to Gareth Southgate’s men.

Despite his struggles in Russia, Pellegrini is reportedly hoping that Sanchez will be the man to strengthen the Hammers’ options just in front of the defence for the coming campaign, which begins with a trip to Liverpool on Sunday.
