According to The Daily Mail, West Ham are eyeing up a swoop for Craig Dawson after being priced out of a move for James Tarkowski.
The report states that David Moyes sees the Watford defender as a player who ticks a lot of boxes in terms of what he’s looking for.
Sky Sports reported that the Hammers had three bids rejected for Tarkowski, who Sean Dyche now expects to stay at Turf Moor – again revealed by Sky Sports.
As a result, a swoop for the Hornets centre-back, who cost Watford £5.5 million from West Brom, is being considered.
The 30-year-old is also a genuine threat from set-pieces, something that will presumably please Moyes.
Dawson has a whopping 43 career goals to his name, including 21 strikes in just 93 appearances for Rochdale, a remarkable record for a centre-back.
The Hammers are quite clearly after a new centre-back this window, having also seen an offer worth £33 million rejected for Wesley Fofana according to Sky Sports.
The 19-year-old has since joined Leicester.
Moyes has until Monday to sign one before the deadline.
However, the ex-Manchester United manager has until the 16th of October to complete a deal for Dawson, given the domestic deadline which extends beyond October 5th, the deadline for overseas transfers.
