Reims striker Boulaye Dia is an option for West Ham United in the January transfer window, but a move for Inter Milan’s Christian Eriksen feels unlikely according to Eurosport.

As it stands, Kylian Mbappe’s closest challenger for the Ligue 1 Golden Boot is not Wissam Ben Yedder, Memphis Depay or even Paris Saint-Germain teammate Neymar.

With nine goals in 13 matches, Dia is the only player in France’s top flight keeping pace with the World Cup winner at present.

Whether the Senegal international sticks around to challenge for individual honours in the second half of 2020/21, however, is anyone’s guess.

Eurosport claim that West Ham are scouting Dia, who has also been linked with Arsenal, Everton and Newcastle.

Speaking to Top Mercato, Reims president Jean-Pierre Caillot has confirmed that the 24-year-old is free to leave if an acceptable offer arrives next month.

“If he stays (beyond January), I would be delighted. If he has an offer that suits him and us too, I could not object because I gave him my word,” Caillot said.

Fellow Senegal international Sadio Mane, meanwhile, has been ‘really impressed‘ by his compatriot’s recent form and believes Dia will be on the move soon.

Another player heavily linked with a mid-season switch is Christian Eriksen, Inter’s £260,000-a-week millstone.

The former Tottenham star went public recently with his frustrations at the San Siro, having failed to secure a place in Antonio Conte’s starting XI.

Inter director Beppe Marotta has since admitted that Eriksen – a number ten struggling for starts in a Nerazzuri side who play without an orthadox play-maker – is free to to pursue opportunities elsewhere (Goal).

But Eurosport suggest that a move to West Ham is unlikely, suggesting that Eriksen could be simply too expensive.
