West Ham are close to signing the Bayer Leverkusen striker.

According to reports from The Daily Mail, West Ham United and Bayer Leverkusen are expected to agree terms for Mexican striker Javier Hernandez over the weekend.

The report claims that the Hammers are closing in on a £16 million transfer for the former Manchester United striker.

Hernandez has 48 goals for Mexico in 96 games, and he is the all-time leading scorer for his country.

Widely known by the nickname Chicharito, Hernandez scored 59 goals in 156 appearances for United after arriving at Old Trafford in 2010, before joining Leverkusen in 2015.

Hernandez is not a typical modern day striker like say Sergio Aguero or Luis Suarez who bring more to the game with their overall contribution.

However, what Hernandez can give is goals, and loads of it. He is a great finisher, and if he is provided proper supply, he can win matches on his own. The Mexican will be a great signing for the Hammers.
