According to The Mirror, West Ham United are planning to offer a new contract to teenager Domingos Quina, in a bid to fend off interest from Paris Saint-Germain.

The Hammers swooped to sign Quina from Chelsea last summer, with the Portuguese youngster arriving with a burgeoning reputation having shown promise following a move from Benfica.

The diminutive playmaker, 17, has made four first-team appearances for West Ham, but has also been impressive for their development squad since his move to East London.

Now, Quina is attracting interest, with The Mirror noting that French giants Paris Saint-Germain – fresh from big moves to sign Neymar and Kylian Mbappe – are looking to land Quina, having identified him as one of the top young talents in Europe.

However, it’s added that West Ham are planning to open talks over a new deal for Quina, rewarding him for his progress whilst also making sure he doesn’t head towards the final 18 months of his contract.

The prospect of rubbing shoulders with Neymar, Mbappe and Edinson Cavani could be appealing to the teenager, and he may well need to be promised a path to the first team in order to extend his deal with the Hammers.

Quina turns 18 next month and may want some sort of guarantee that he will see more first-team opportunities if he extends his deal, otherwise he may well try his luck elsewhere.

A highly rated wonderkid, West Ham must do everything in their power to keep Quina at the London Stadium, but with interest from major European clubs, a role in the development squad may not be enough.
