Report: West Ham enquire about Danny Ings; could face competition from West Brom

West Ham have enquired about the availability of Liverpool striker Danny Ings. West Brom are also interested.

According to reports from the Sunday Express (printed edition; 07/01/2018 – page 40), West Ham are showing interest in signing Danny Ings from Liverpool in the January transfer window.

The report claims that West Ham have asked the Reds if the striker is available for a move from Anfield in the winter transfer window.

The 25-year-old joined Liverpool in 2015 from Burnley, but his career at Anfield has been disrupted by a series of injuries.

He has recovered to full fitness, and has played for the Liverpool Under-23 side this season.

Jurgen Klopp has Roberto Firmino and Daniel Sturridge as his two main strikers, and as such, Ings would struggle to get games at Anfield. A temporary move away from Anfield would be the ideal scenario for him.

West Ham manager David Moyes has Javier Hernandez and Andy Carroll as two top strikers in his ranks, but it seems that he still wants to bolster his attacking options.

The report claims that West Ham could face competition from other Premier League clubs in signing Ings – with Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion being credited with interest.

According to a recent report from the Mirror, Newcastle United are also interested in signing the striker, with Rafael Benitez trying to tempt him with the offer of regular game time.
