Manchester United have put a £30m price tag on West Ham United target Jesse Lingard, who is a target for the Irons.

As reported by the Telegraph, the Hammers now know how much it will take to bring the 28-year-old midfielder back to east London.

Furthermore, the report states that numerous clubs both in England and across Europe are keeping tabs on Lingard.

The England international is in the final year of his contract and could well stay with the Manchester giants. There have been rumours that the Red Devils could offer Lingard a new deal.

Moreover, Lingard has featured for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s over pre-season, playing in fixtures against Derby County and Queens Park Rangers.

West Ham have to sign Lingard for good

The United academy graduate flourished with West Ham last season after joining the club on loan.

In just 16 Premier League games, Lingard hit nine goals and was key to David Moyes’ side clinching sixth place in the standings.

The Hammers are eager to re-sign Lingard on a permanent deal ahead of their UEFA Europa League group stage campaign next season.

However, the finances of the transfer are proving to be a sticking point.

Whilst Lingard would cost less than Felipe Anderson, who joined West Ham for £36m in 2018 according to BBC Sport, the midfielder’s reported £100,000-a-week contract will be hard to match for the Hammers.

With a month of the window left to go, West Ham have time on their hands when negotiating a deal for Lingard.

However, with the season fast approaching, United could well offer the midfielder a new deal to stay in Manchester, which will all but kill any hope the Irons have of signing the England star.
