According to The Mirror, West Ham United have been given new hope of signing Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi – but the Blues are only interested in selling him.
The Hammers attempted to land a big-name striker last summer, but ended up landing Simone Zaza and Jonathan Calleri on loan, with neither player proving to be the answer for Slaven Bilic’s men.
With Andy Carroll and Diafra Sahko continuing to suffer regular injury problems, West Ham must finally land a striker this summer, with one of their 2016 targets coming back into view.
One striker West Ham attempted to sign last summer was Michy Batshuayi, but Chelsea ended up outbidding them to sign the Belgian from Marseille, after hitting 23 goals in 50 games last season.

However, after failing to start even one Premier League game this season, The Mirror report that West Ham are again keen to sign Batshuayi – but Chelsea will only consider selling him, with no loan option on the table.
The 23-year-old has failed to displace Diego Costa as Chelsea’s first-choice striker, and has played just 113 minutes of league action across 17 substitute appearances, with manager Antonio Conte seemingly unconvinced.

With Chelsea allegedly seeking another striker – both Alvaro Morata and Romelu Lukaku have been mentioned – the Blues could sell Batshuayi in a bid to recoup most of their £33million outlay and fund other moves.
Whether West Ham can stump up the cash to tempt Chelsea into a deal remains to be seen, but Batshuayi needs to play first-team football, and can’t afford another season like this one, with West Ham potentially offering a way out.
