According to A Bola, West Ham want to sign FC Porto glovesman Agustín Marchesín, and have already made contact.
The Portuguese news outlet claim that West Ham have contacted FC Porto in regards to the availability of their No.1.
A Bola also state that there are indications this initial contact could soon proceed to negotiations between the two clubs.
It is also said that the Hammers lead the race for Marchesín, who has enjoyed a brilliant season with the Portuguese giants.
How has Marchesín performed this season?
The 33-year-old performed admirably between the sticks as FC Porto reached the Champions League quarter-finals.
Marchesín had to bring his A-game in the Last 16, as Cristiano Ronaldo’s Juventus sat between them and the quarter-finals.
However, the 7-cap Argentina international managed to not concede a single goal to the four-time Ballon d’Or winner across both legs.
In total, the West Ham target conceded just 35 goals in 43 appearances this season, while keeping 22 clean sheets along the way.
Where would this leave Łukasz Fabiański?
In our view, we don’t think Marchesín’s arrival would see Fabiański relegated to the bench by David Moyes.
It’s far more likely that Moyes wants a high-profile shot-stopper to deputise for the Pole, as the Irons prepare for Europa League football.
