West Ham United are reportedly keen on Everton’s James McCarthy.

According to the Daily Mail, West Ham United are considering a move to bring Everton’s James McCarthy to the club on loan for the rest of the season.

The Hammers are in need of midfield reinforcements, with summer signings Jack Wilshere and Carlos Sanchez both currently on the treatment table.

That has left Pedro Obiang, Declan Rice and Mark Noble as the main options in midfield for Manuel Pellegrini, prompting reports of a move for Besiktas ace Gary Medel.

Now though, the Daily Mail report that West Ham are keen on Everton’s McCarthy, and could launch a loan move for him this month.

That would at least tide West Ham over until Sanchez and Wilshere return, without having to fork out for another permanent signing in midfield.

McCarthy, 28, hasn’t played for almost a year having suffered a major injury against West Brom in January 2018, and is now ramping up his return to action.

Yet with Andre Gomes, Idrissa Gueye, Tom Davies and Morgan Schneiderlin also at Everton, a loan move to get up to speed again may help him save his Everton career in the summer.

Fulham and West Brom are also thought to be keen on signing McCarthy on loan, but West Ham could be the most appealing option of the three.
