According to The Sun, West Ham United are considering making a move for Manchester United left-back Brandon Williams in the January transfer window.

Williams is behind Luke Shaw and Alex Telles in the pecking order at United, according to the report, which has added that the 20-year-old has ‘cut a frustrated figure’ at the club.

Although Southampton are interested in the 20-year-old, they have delayed making a final decision, it has been claimed.

The report has added that West Ham have scouted the 20-year-old and are considering making an offer to sign the youngster on loan until the end of the season.

Need for a left-back

West Ham manager David Moyes needs to sign a left-back for the short term due to Arthur Masuaka’s injury and subsequent knee operation.

Aaron Cresswell is the only recognised left-back at the Hammers at the moment.

Williams is a talented and promising young left-back who has experience of playing in the Premier League with United and will be good cover at the London Stadium.

The 20-year-old is highly rated, with United legend Paul Scholes describing him as “an excellent defender” who can “also get forward” on BT Sport (7:30pm, January 15, 2020).

According to WhoScored, Williams has played just six minutes in the Premier League and 60 minutes in the Champions League this season, and in 2019-20, he made 11 starts and six substitute appearances in the league and eight appearances in the Europa League.
