West Ham United are considering making another move for James Tarkowski, who they are now very close to signing, the London Evening Standard suggest.

West Ham have seen two bids for Tarkowski knocked back, but have still not given up hope bringing the two-time England international to the London Stadium.

West Ham’s last bid for Tarkowski was thought to be worth £30 million, but after add-ons.

Burnley are looking for £30 million for the centre-back, but they want the fee paid up-front.

It means West Ham are close to agreeing a price, but whether they will be willing to part with such a big sum of cash this summer remains to be seen.

David Moyes’s side’s need for a defender was highlighted at the weekend, as they lost 2-0 to Newcastle United.

West Ham looked vulnerable defensively throughout, but Tarkowski’s arrival should help.

The Burnley man has been rock solid over a number of years for Sean Dyche’s side, and would surely walk straight into West Ham’s team if he was to arrive.

West Ham’s record transfers

  1. Sebastien Haller

    £45 million

  2. Felipe Anderson

  3. Marko Arnautovic
