West Ham are reportedly closing in on the signing of Marseille forward Andre Ayew.
According to The Sun, West Ham United have opened talks with Marseille forward Andre Ayew over a summer free transfer move to Upton Park, and could already be close to deal.
The Hammers have mustered just three Premier League wins in 2015, and with out-of-contract manager Sam Allardyce likely to leave the club this summer, the winds of change could be sweeping through Upton Park at the end of the season.
Whilst a new boss may be on the way, it seems that co-chairman David Sullivan is putting the wheels in motion for a move to sign Ayew.
The Ghanaian international, 25, has hit 11 goals for Marseille this season, and is unsurprisingly in-demand this summer, with his contract with the French side set to expire, making him a free agent.
Recent reports from French website Mercato 365 suggested that Ayew had been in talks with Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino over a summer move to White Hart Lane – but could now be heading to their London rivals West Ham instead.
The Sun believe that West Ham have not only discussed personal terms with Ayew, but also that co-chairman Sullivan believes a deal is close to completion.
Given Ayew’s reputation in Europe, this would be a huge coup for West Ham, who have been lacking a threat in the final third for some time now – and Ayew could be the man to solve their problems next season.
