West Ham United have received a potential boost, as Southampton have dropped out of the race to sign Ruben Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea, The Sun report (07:38).
Loftus-Cheek is very much in demand on deadline day, with a clutch of Premier League clubs trying to take him.
And it seems that West Ham could well be at the head of the queue now.
The Daily Mail claim that West Ham are prepared to pay Loftus-Cheek’s £150,000-a-week wages, which have proven too expensive for Southampton.
The Saints apparently were keen to land the England international, who was labelled as ‘amazing’ by Chelsea legend Gianfranco Zola (Goal), but the latest update suggests that their chances are now over.

With the competition dropping, West Ham will surely feel confident of getting a deal over the line, and if Loftus-Cheek was to arrive he could be an exciting addition.
The Hammers already have some excellent options in midfield, and adding Loftus-Cheek’s creativity alongside Toumas Soucek and Declan Rice would give David Moyes a really solid centre to build around.
