West Ham have suffered a huge double injury blow at a crucial part of the season.

David Moyes, Manager of West Ham United looks on during the Premier League match between Swansea City and West Ham United at Liberty Stadium on March 3, 2018 in Swansea, Wales.

The London Evening Standard has reported that West Ham United have suffered a huge defensive injury blow as Winston Reid and Sam Byram have been ruled out for the rest of the season.

Right-back Byram suffered an ankle injury after replacing the injured Reid in the 27th minute, who was stretchered off with an ankle injury. Both players are not expected to return before the end of the season.

Byram, 24, has been sidelined for much of the season anyway due to a hamstring problem, while the loss of Reid will come as an even bigger blow with the Hammers lacking in depth at centre-back.

Moyes will be left with only Pablo Zabaleta to choose from on the right side of defence while Reid is set to join James Collins in the treatment room – leaving Moyes with only Angelo Ogbonna and Declan Rice to choose from.

It remains to be seen if even Italy international Ogbonna will be fit for this weekend’s clash against Burnley, as the former Juventus defender missed the 4-1 loss to Swansea City due to illness.

But he should return ahead of this weekend’s match, while Moyes may consider counting on the versatility of a number of his stars. Patrice Evra or Zabaleta could be used at centre-back, while Cheikhou Kouyate has been used on the right side of defence in the past.
