A report from The Athletic has claimed that West Ham won’t entertain any bids of less than £50 million for Tomas Soucek, as some of Europe’s biggest clubs circle around the Czech star.
The midfielder has been mightily impressive since David Moyes signed him on loan last January, and the Hammers made that deal permanent in the summer for a fee of just €21 million (£19 million).
Now, West Ham want a profit of at least £31 million if they are to sell Soucek, and with Bayern Munich reportedly interested, that is a fee that they may end up getting.
However, there’s no guarantee that they’d even accept that, the report states that they won’t entertain bids of less than £50 million, and that doesn’t necessarily mean that they will accept that price, with the report also re-iterating the fact that Soucek has no release clause in his contract.
The midfielder has earnt all sorts of praise this season, so it’s no surprise to see that West Ham’s valuation of him has skyrocketed after such a bright start to the season.
£50 million would allow the Hammers to buy a top-class replacement if Soucek were to go, but even then, you may not guarantee yourself landing a player as good as the 25-year-old.
Soucek may have only been a West Ham player for less than a year, but he’s already looking like one of the biggest bargain signings in the club’s recent history.
