West Ham United are reportedly hoping to tie up a deal for William Carvalho this week.
According to The Mirror, West Ham United feel that a £36million deal for Sporting CP star William Carvalho could be completed this week after a failed £27million bid last week.
The Hammers were equipped with four new summer signings for Sunday’s trip to face Manchester United, as Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta, Marko Arnautovic and Javier Hernandez all started at Old Trafford – but Slaven Bilic saw his side fall to a 4-0 thrashing.

It means that West Ham may still be pursuing more new signings before the end of the transfer window, and the Hammers could look to prioritise the centre of midfield as the next area to improve.
Mark Noble has been a loyal servant but may not be the midfielder to take West Ham to the next level, whilst there have been injury concerns over both Cheikhou Kouyate and Pedro Obiang, leaving Bilic to consider moving for a midfield powerhouse before this month’s transfer window.
Now, The Mirror report that West Ham are confident that a £36million deal for Sporting CP star William Carvalho will be completed this week, with the player thought to be keen on sealing a move to East London.
It’s claimed that West Ham failed with a £27million bid for Carvalho last week, but have now returned with a new bid including performance-related bonuses to take the deal up to £36million, which may be enough for Sporting to agree to sell their star midfielder.

Carvalho, 25, has come up through the ranks with Sporting, racking up more than 150 appearances whilst also becoming an important player for the Portuguese national team, making 37 appearances for his county having chosen Portugal over Angola, his country of birth.
A powerful midfielder with a superb passing range, Carvalho could provide additional protection for the West Ham defence whilst also having the quality on the ball to start attacks, with his calming presence on the ball certainly needed after Sunday’s frenetic display against Manchester United – and a club-record deal of £36million could now be on the verge of completion, if reports are to be believed.
