West Ham United are reportedly battling Bournemouth and Hull City for the signature of Omar Elabdellaoui.
According to ESPN, West Ham United have joined the race to sign Olympiacos right back Omar Elabdellaoui, with Bournemouth and Hull City also keen.
The Hammers have endured major problems at right back over the last year, with Sam Byram – a signing from Leeds United last January – yet to make an impact in the Premier League having struggled with injuries.
General view inside the London Stadium
Alvaro Arbeloa has barely played since his deadline day move to East London, and Slaven Bilic has been forced to use defensive midfielder Havard Nordtveit or winger Michail Antonio at right wing back.
A more natural, long-term solution is needed, and whilst West Ham have been linked with a number of right backs, Olympiacos ace Omar Elabdellaoui has now been touted for a move to the London Stadium.
Olympiacos’ Omar Elabdellaoui
Elabdellaoui, 25, was on the books of Manchester City between 2008 and 2013, but spent most of his time out on loan at Stromsgodset, Feyenoord and Eintracht Braunschweig, before joining the latter permanently in 2013.
Just a year later, Elabdellaoui left Germany to join Olympiacos, and whilst he played 62 times in his first two seasons with the Greek side, he has lost his place in the side to Diogo Figueiras this season, meaning he has only played three times this season.
Now, ESPN report that West Ham are battling Bournemouth and Hull City for Elabdellaoui’s signature, and Olympiacos are willing to let him leave on loan, with his homegrown status attractive to Premier League club after he came up through the ranks with Manchester City.
With his Norwegian international team-mate Nordtveit already at the club, a move to West Ham could be appealing, with his pace and attacking ability potentially appealing to Hammers boss Bilic.
